Excursions
Patrick and Steve are happy to arrange trips to the local attractions which include beautiful waterfalls, whale watching in Samana (Jan-Mar), hiking, historical tours, boat trips , fishing trips, day trip to Haiti, shopping trips, horse riding, snorkelling and diving. For the more adventurous, there is white-water rafting, helicopter sight-seeing, and the nearby world- famous town of Cabarete offers kite-surfing, wind-surfing and jet-skiing plus a very lively nightlife.
Fishing, boat trips and horse riding can be done right from our beach at Los Gringos. Please see 'Things to Do' page for all the information.

Gri Gri Lagoon, Rio San Juan boats take visitors through the mangrove forests into the lagoon to see the caves and rocks. The caves are filled with swallows. Take your camera and swimming gear as they stop for a swim and snorkle. Click on pictures to enlarge.

Blue Lagoon Just east of Rio San Juan, is the Blue Lagoon, a freshwater sinkhole used as a local swimming hole. Surrounded by dense vegetation and only accessible by a series of rough steps hewn into the rock face, it has the feel of a Tarzan movie set. Have a refreshing swim in the cool water or just watch the death-defying feats of the local children as they dive into the lake from the surrounding cliffs and trees! |

| Diving A wealth of wonderful places to dive and snorkel and can be arranged at the Gri Gri Lagoon office. Look out for Felix who speaks reasonable English and will accompany you on your dive as translator...for a reasonable fee.

| Cabaret about a 30 minute drive back towards Puerto Plata Cabarete is famous for world-class windsurfing and kiteboarding. A lively town with lots of bars and restaurants. Good place to take teenagers for water sports and a bit of action. On the outskirts is El Encuentro, a surfing beach. Close to town is the Parque Nacional El Choco which has caves believed to be 5 million years old and routes for mountain biking and hiking.
